It’s always nice for a change of scenery and when my good friend Jacqui told me she was getting married in the Poconos and wanted me to photograph her wedding day, I couldn’t wait! Being up in the Poconos at the Shawnee Inn & Resort was stunning and peaceful, a perfect backdrop for her to marry her Joshua. Only Jacqui could imagine such a perfect vintage theme for her Shawnee Inn Poconos wedding.
Take a look and be inspired for your own wedding, she thought of everything. The something blue in her hand made shawl (crafted by the bride herself!) and hanger, the antique jewels. And the guys looked just as dapper as the ladies.
Without further ado, I introduce you to Mr. and Mrs. Tasker
The weather was unexpectedly gloomy when we were all set up to do portraits and the first look. So, a little thinking on our toes was in store. We decided to move the first look setting to where the ceremony would be… epic, soft light and we were covered from any sign drizzle. We were far enough from the Shawnee Inn for some privacy, plus the Delaware River makes a pretty perfect background.
Both of their parties were small which made picture taking a breeze. The navy shade of blue was perfect against the guy’s crisp light gray linen suits. And the ladies looked extra lovely walking around carrying their umbrellas to keep them dry.
Even though the Shawnee Inn was pretty busy, we felt like we had the whole resort to ourselves. Which was especially important during the ceremony. No worries about people walking in the background, and no cars buzzing by to ruin the moment.
Not to put Mom on blast, but I was pretty pumped when I snagged this shot of her dabbing her tears away during the vows. It’s such a touching and vulnerable moment to see your son get married and for me to capture it is pretty special.
I don’t often get to take a picture with the whole guest list in the shot. And even if I do, it’s never for a wedding of this size. Lucky for Jacqui and Josh, the ceremony space was just the right size for us to fit everyone in once the camera was hoisted way up high. This was all Jacqui’s vision and I’m so glad she helped make this possible!
Jacqui is probably the thoughtful-est bride (and now wife) ever. She made sure that Josh had a cake he would like, a groom’s cake just for him.
