Gabriella may have been late to her first date with her now-fiancé as she went to the wrong restaurant location, but that didn’t stop these two from hitting it off! Their conversation on everything from wine to family resulted in a second date only 3 days later at a Sixers game.
If Gabriella was impressed by Nick for being kind and inquisitive, she was even more impressed that he actually followed through on the Sixers game. Talk about a slam dunk!
As it turns out, Nick says he knew Gabriella was “the one” from the very first few dates. He loves her smile, humor, and care for others. After the third date-which they spent discussing their previous dating app failures-Gabriella was sure too. Impressed by Nick’s maturity, passion, and thoughtfulness, she knew it wasn’t just his handsome looks giving her butterflies.
Gabriella loves how Nick completes her with his calm, reserved voice of reason–though she is always happy to push him out of his comfort zone to try new things and meet new people. Now, Nick and Gabriella spend their time together going on walks with their mini Goldendoodle Carmela, trying new restaurants in Philadelphia, going to see Nick’s favorite Marvel movies, and watching trash reality TV (their words!). Nick also enjoys the entertainment of Gabriella’s funny and often slightly exaggerated stories.
After three and a half years of dating and six months of “dog parenting,” the two were ready to be engaged. Nick recruited Gabriella’s family, friends, and her best friend Lauren to surprise her while they were visiting some of her favorite places by the Jersey Shore. Gabriella was admittedly suspicious they happened to be visiting the shore while her family was staying there and her close friends took her for a manicure, but Nick did his best to throw her off with a romantic dinner in their old neighborhood the night before the proposal.
On the night of the proposal, Nick presented a beautiful ring designed exactly how Gabriella wanted on the beach where the two always go to watch sunsets. It was a beautiful moment that captured how thoughtful Nick is and how much he loves Gabriella.
