Somerville Backyard Wedding – Bethany & Ken

Weddings

The laid back couple they are, Bethany & Ken decided on an intimate backyard wedding at their Somerville home. These two first met at work when Bethany had asked for his help on a project. Unhelpful as he may have been (?), Bethany thought he was extremely cute so they went out for coffee. 30+ coffee dates later, they officially went out to Committed Pig and the rest is history!

The Proposal

After a fun-filled day at Animal Kingdom at Disney World, Ken popped the question. A couple months after they started dating, they got a glow in the dark ring as a prize at an arcade, which Ken held on to for when the perfect moment came up. Well played, Ken. Well played.

Here are some favorites from their backyard fall wedding in Somerville!

Before heading back home in Somerville for the festivities, we stopped at Natirar Park for some portraits.

All of the beautiful fall colors were in full effect.

Bethany and Ken really didn’t have many requests for me, but of course their “must have” shot was a picture with Kitty.

An unseasonably warm October day was a very welcome surprise.

Give me all the fall decor!

Ken actually made this beautiful arch with floral contributions by their neighbor. The neighbor had an abundance of dahlia flowers and graciously offered them. It takes a village!

They opted for the Cord of Three Strands tradition, where the groom holds a small metal ring with three attached strands. The bride then braids the strands together, symbolizing their union.

The backyard of their Somerville home was the perfect spot to have such an intimate wedding.

When you have a small wedding, it’s easy to corral everyone together for a group shot with all of your special guests.

They had their first dance in the entryway of their home! This is the stuff Hallmark movies are made of.

Food isn’t always something I photograph, but the caterer was the brand new Oink & Moo BBQ right in Somerville!

Gotta pull out all the stops to tug at the heartstrings when making your toast, am I right?

Backyard weddings are perfectly intimate and a great choice for many, and this Somerville ceremony did not disappoint.
