At Home, Fall Family Photos- Pittstown, NJ

There is something especially meaningful about capturing family photos in a home filled with memories, particularly when a new adventure is just around the corner. I’ve known this family for years, having photographed their wedding back in 2021, but I grew up next door to Dad, so we go way back. While I recently moved back to the town where they’ve been living for years, they were preparing for a big move to Florida. Before they packed up and headed south, we decided to capture one more special memory in the place they’ve called home.

This house holds so much significance for their family. It’s where they began building their life together, welcomed their children, and created countless everyday memories. With such a big transition ahead, it only made sense to have their family session at home. There’s something wonderful about photographing families in their own space that have been part of their story.

We spent the session capturing a variety of moments, from photos of the kids to portraits of the entire family together. Of course, we made sure to include their dog, too! Keeping the session relaxed and comfortable allowed everyone to simply enjoy being together. These photos aren’t just about documenting what their family looks like today, but also preserving a little piece of the home and life they’re preparing to leave behind and knowing the oldest will remember it but the youngest won’t know the first place he called home.

Moving to a new state is an exciting new chapter, but saying goodbye to a home where so many milestones happened can be bittersweet. Years from now, I hope this family looks back at these photos and remembers all the memories they shared within these walls. It has been such a joy watching their family grow, and I can’t wait to see what their next adventure in Florida brings!
