90th Birthday Celebration, Extended Family Photos – Hunterdon County, NJ

Some milestones deserve to be celebrated in a simple, meaningful way, and a 90th birthday is certainly one of them. This extended family session took place in late June at the family’s home in Hunterdon County, NJ, where everyone gathered to celebrate Mom’s incredible milestone. Before the photos, the family enjoyed a relaxing dinner together, choosing to keep the celebration just for the grown-ups—a chance to focus on the parents and their adult children without the usual hustle and bustle of a larger family gathering.

With family traveling in from across the country, having everyone together at the same time was a rare occasion. Coordinating schedules becomes more difficult as families grow and spread out, making opportunities like this even more valuable. Rather than letting the moment pass by, they chose to document it, creating photographs that will serve as lasting reminders of a truly special day. In my experience, as parents get older, they often aren’t looking for more gifts—they simply want meaningful time and memories with their children, no matter how old those children may be.

Their backyard provided the perfect setting for a relaxed evening of portraits. We captured a wide variety of combinations, including the entire family together, each couple, individual portraits of Mom with each of her children, and plenty of candid moments in between. One of my favorite parts of the session was seeing the spotlight return to the relationship between a mother and her children. Even though they are all adults with families and lives of their own, those bonds remain just as meaningful.

This session was such a beautiful reminder that family photos aren’t only for young children or major life events—they’re just as important in every season of life. Celebrating 90 years surrounded by the people who matter most is a memory worth preserving, and I hope these images will be treasured by this family for generations to come.
