Summer Wedding at Windows on the Water – Sea Bright, NJ

This bride and groom go way back–all the way to 2000, where they met on the playground in 8th grade. Fourteen-year-old Catherine was just cruising the skate park when she saw “hottie” (her words) Dale on the swing set. Dale AIMed her the next day, setting history in motion.

Their middle school romance was interrupted when Catherine moved to England in the summer of 2001, but they were sure to keep in touch throughout the years. When they officially had their first “adult” date, as Catherine calls it, in February 2017, it was like no time had passed at all. Catherine says they knew they were made for each other from that first day on the playground, it just took 16 years for them to come back to each other when the timing was right and everything aligned. Talk about meant to be!

Now, Catherine and Dale enjoy fishing, cooking, binge-watching, hiking, seeing new sights, and trying new restaurants together. Catherine even cycles with Dale while he trains for marathons and running events! They may have moved on from the playground, but they still love to play together.

Dale proposed to Catherine in August 2022 at sunrise on the beach. It was their first trip to the shore that summer, and Catherine was so excited she didn’t suspect a thing. In fact, she even changed their plans by missing the turn for Asbury Park while navigating. While Asbury Park was their go-to spot, the beach at Belmar became a new special location for them when Dale popped the question. This beach even gave them the privacy of a totally empty beach for the proposal, exactly like Catherine hoped.

After the proposal, they packed up and headed to Asbury for the day, where they enjoyed prosecco on the beach. They spent the day just enjoying each other’s company in their engagement bubble and didn’t tell anyone until the next day. In Catherine’s words it was “Perfect.”

The bride and groom were so excited to celebrate with their loved ones. A relationship 16+ years in the making deserves a great celebration! Their wedding venue at Windows on the Water was a perfect match for the beach location–a callback to their proposal and many fishing adventures together.
