By far one of my favorite go to places for a family session, this Somerville park doesn’t actually have a name. It’s home to some township ball fields and a playground and is located across the street from the Somerville YMCA. Upon first glance, a client once said they weren’t sure they are at the right place when they pulled up.
Once you walk past the sports field, you’ll find a river, part of Peter’s Brook Greenway running along the base of a cliff. We’ll hop across the street and grab some shots along the park pathway and see if we can find anything blooming in Van Fleet Gardens.

If we hit it just right, the water level of the river will allow us to sneak down and grab a few shots, waterside. Admittedly, I’m a fan of the simple beauty of nature to compliment the subject.
A unique element of the park, this is the prettiest water drain I’ve ever seen. It’s a fun spot to grab a photo of the kiddos together.
The simplicity of nature will accent any wardrobe color scheme.
This Somerville park is home to many very old trees, perfect for gathering the family for your session. This shot was inspired by the girls who wanted to play a bit.
The steps along the hillside are another great place to gather up the family. I’m always looking to keep everyone close together.
Near the baseball fields, there are wide open fields. They are perfect for letting the little ones roam freely.
Those natural expressions are always the most cherished family photos.
A simple pathway is the perfect ‘walk in the park’ shot.
For the little ones who are always on the move, we’ll let them think they are the boss for a moment.
Even in late fall, the park has so many pretty colors to offer for a family session.
