Engagement Session Location | Duke Island Park Bridgewater, NJ
Filled with trails and beautiful landscapes at all times of the year, Duke Island Park is a perfect spot for an engagement session. It’s located in Bridgewater, NJ and is a recreation area bordered by the Raritan Water Power Canal and Raritan River. Because the park is very spread out, we aren’t likely to find crowds.

Plenty of simple greenery to make for a clean background.
Ok, so technically, this little bridge isn’t part of Duke Island Park, but it’s just a quick drive, less than a mile, from the park’s entrance. If everyone behaves themself we can stop here at the end 🙂
If the water is low enough, we can hop down to the banks of the Raritan River. We’ll live a little dangerously on the edge of the river for a few shots. Your engagement photos are an everyday portrait of yourselves. I love the idea of embracing the casual nature of sessions at a location like this.
This park also works well if we need to schedule the session at a time close to noon when the sun is high overhead. It offers plenty of shade for us to avoid any harsh shadows or squinting.
The main focus of the engagement session is get you used to the feeling of being in front of a camera. Capturing beautiful photos might seem like the obvious purpose, but it’s more about the experience. We’ll shift the focus from “OMG I’m so awkward in front of the camera!” to “Oh this isn’t so bad, it’s just us hanging out.” That’s when we’ll get the most natural photos and you’ll feel confident that the wedding day photos will be exactly what you’ve dreamed of.
I’m Jenna. I photograph the happy stuff in and around central New Jersey. When I’m not capturing a wedding day or family moment, I’m usually scouring the nearest Trader Joe’s for a new & exciting find!
