Colonial Park in Franklin, NJ is a county park perfect for couples that want to take advantage of the abundant greenery, flowers, and architecture for their engagement session. My favorite area is the Rose Garden, although I usually don’t shoot a ton inside the garden, its surroundings have just as much to offer with the canal and bridge just at the end and some abandoned farm buildings near as well. This is definitely a location that can get busy during peak season so it’s best to shoot at an off time.

There is an old barn area on the property that has clearly been abandoned for a number of years but makes for a perfect background!
We’re usually the only ones around these parts so it’s nice to have the place to ourselves!
Oh, great! You love vines growing on buildings, too!
Just behind the barn is a big open field. Even in the dead of winter, the tall grass makes for some great layers in the photo.
The pedestrian bridge that goes over the canal is a favorite spot of mine, too. Ah symmetry! It’s a great spot to sit and not have to worry about dirty tushies.
Beautiful English-styled gardens and pathways.
Thanks to the well thought out plantings, there is always color popping in the back of the rose garden with tons of unique perennials.
I love how these classic simple colors will match so well with you home decor so you can feel free to print these nice and big!
The tow path runs alongside of the canal. I’m a sucker for the natural lines of this shot.
Beautiful muted tones at Colonial Park for a winter engagement session.
Even in early October there are still roses blooming!
A small cottage-esque building is a favorite spot, too. It reminds me of Kate Winslet’s house in The Holiday.
A great dog friendly place, its got plenty of room for Fido to roam.
