Their love story began six years ago in Ormskirk, England, where they met while studying abroad. After forming a friendship, it was a walk around the docks in the beach town of Southport that sparked something deeper—what Courtney considers their true “date zero.” Since then, their lives have been filled with long-distance stretches, shared adventures, and cozy nights spent watching TV, DIY-ing their home, and trying out new restaurants. When it came time to propose, Courtney had “lifted the ban” on proposals after their six-year anniversary, giving Jose the green light—but she still wanted it to be a surprise. With the help of Courtney’s parents, he organized a small post-proposal celebration and proposed using Courtney’s grandmother’s ring—a meaningful gesture that made the moment feel even more special. Knowing they’ll choose a custom ring together later, the heirloom added a sentimental touch that perfectly honored family and tradition.
