August Proposal Photos, J Owen Grundy Park- Jersey City, NJ

Chris and Lianna’s end-of-summer proposal at J. Owen Grundy Park in Jersey City was filled with surprises, personal touches, and a picture-perfect view of the New York City skyline. Their story began on Hinge in April 2025 when Lianna commented on one of Chris’s prompts, and the connection was almost immediate. Their first date at Tommy’s Tavern + Tap lasted three hours, with the two so busy talking that they repeatedly asked their waiter for more time before ordering. From that very first night, they both had a feeling they had found something special.

Since then, Chris and Lianna have built a relationship filled with the things they love most—trying new restaurants, Dunkin coffee runs, traveling, beach and pool days, and plenty of time with family and friends. It didn’t take long for either of them to realize they had found “the one.” For Chris, it was the moment he first told Lianna he loved her. For Lianna, it was a drive home from a Yankees game when Chris sang “Jersey Girl” to her and she immediately burst into tears. Their relationship is full of those sweet moments along side a shared ability to make everyday life fun. Isn’t that what life is all about?!

While Chris and Lianna had talked about getting engaged in September, Chris had other plans and moved the proposal up to make sure Lianna was truly surprised. With help from her mom, he planned an August proposal at J. Owen Grundy Park, giving Lianna exactly what she had always envisioned—a proposal overlooking the New York City skyline. The location also had a special connection to both of them, with Chris having attended high school just a few blocks away and Lianna now working only a few miles from the park.

The couple picked out her engagement ring together a few months earlier, with a family friend of Chris helping bring the design to life. Against the Manhattan skyline, the ring, a massive bouquet of red roses, and their excitement all came together for a beautiful afternoon. Soon, some of these proposal photos will find a home on the walls of the apartment they’ll share together, capturing one of the first memories of this exciting new chapter.
