Before we can even get to Kira & Sean’s intimate wedding day, some back story. Every day at 6:00 AM, Kira and Sean were the only people under age 60 at the gym. After a few months of stares and eye flirting, Kira finally gathered up the courage to ask Sean for his name and number, and to see if he wanted to go out. Sean was shocked because he thought she wasn’t really interested.
Sean and Kira immediately connected through music after realizing they had been at many of the same concerts, like The Wall / Pink Floyd at Yankee Stadium. While they each have strong feelings about greatest guitar player of all time – Jimmy Hendrix (Sean) or Stevie Ray Vaughn (Kira) – the two make peace by jamming along to Greg Allman’s recordings of Going Down Slow, with Kira on piano.
Kira and Sean both loved the idea of building their own house and starting a family together. Sean works for a builder and Kira, an engineer, added all the design elements to created a home together – just in time to celebrate with an after-party on the wedding day! Of course Dexter, their dog-child, helped along the way.
The Proposal
The creativity doesn’t stop there! Sean set up a creative proposal in Kira’s childhood backyard, which overlooks a large pond and beautiful sunset. As Kira came around the house to the back of the yard, she was first met by their fur-baby, Dexter, who wore a bowtie and sign that said, “Mommy can we keep him around?” As Kira walked further, Sean was standing in a circle of flowers. He got down on one knee and proposed – and we already know Kira’s answer from there!
After saying yes, Kira’s mom, dad and brother ran out of the house to congratulate the happy couple. They ended the night with a celebration at Kira’s favorite restaurant where she was greeted by family and friends for a surprise engagement party. Nice work, Sean!
Just two days after their wedding, Kira and Sean flew to Italy to explore Rome, Ravello, and the Amalfi Coast. While I dream of hand tossed pizza and gelato, here are some of my favorite shots from Kira and Sean’s intimate wedding.

I have Kristen, Kira’s hair stylist and friend from high school, to thank for introducing me to this adorable couple! She found me on Instagram and said, “You’ve got to check this girl out!” @bridalstylesbyk if you want to follow gorgeous hair!
Kira purchased her gorgeous gown from L’Fay Bridal, one of my trusted vendors!
Lovin’ the mom snuggles 🙂
It was important for Kira and Sean to honor and remember family members who have passed and could not be with them on their special day. Kira carried heart-shaped lockets with their photos around her bouquet.
A special guest at Kira and Sean’s ceremony was the infamous, Dexter, who trotted down the aisle handsomely.
Their smaller ceremony created a very intimate space to celebrate their wedding day nuptials.
After saying “I do” and sharing a kiss, Kira and Sean walked down the aisle and broke into a happy dance! After shooting over 200 weddings, they mostly all flow the same way. I can say that this is something I’ve never seen before from a bride and groom! It added a fun, whimsical twist to their ceremony. It definitely made for a great candid, too!
Aside from its beautiful backdrops, Ninety Acres is known for their amazing food. This is just one example of a passed appetizer that I could not keep my eyes away from!
Oh but that view!!! Natirar never disappoints!
Ah, the father of the bride speech! Kira’s only request of her father was for him to not use the F word. Instead, he worked in a different questionable word… condom, which Kira thought was way worse!
After the ceremony, guests returned to Kira and Sean’s house for the reception. Guests were greeted by a beautiful white tent, chairs, and comfier clothes!
An intimate wedding ensures the bride and groom get to spend quality time with their guests!
The couple actually got married on Sean’s parent’s anniversary. The parents of the groom shared a special dance to celebrate.
It’s all fun and games until Dexter steals the corn hole bags.
I’m pretty sure this was the image in their heads when they planned an intimate tent wedding in summer. Thanks, mother nature, for delivering!
Whoever said diamonds are a girls best friend never had a dog.
The best part about intimate weddings is when those little personal touches just make the day that much more special. Kira’s dad is a musician and jammed with the band for the last few songs. I think we can safely say Kira enjoyed it haha!
