Kristina and Doug met while working at the Long Branch Police department together. All it took was one date and they were inseparable. Flash forward to a rainy Friday evening and Doug wanted to take their German Shepherd, Fiona, for a walk in the park. Walking hand-in-hand they came across a place to sit. Doug made up some excuse to go around the corner with Fiona and when they came back, Fiona’s collar had a charm that read, “Will you marry my Dad?” Before she could realize what was happening, Doug was on one knee, and the rest is history, as they say.
Kristina says Doug makes her laugh with his boyish charms. Doug says Kristina makes him laugh thanks to her corny jokes. It’s no wonder that two people with such a zest for life would find themselves looking at an October wedding and turn it into something epic and original. When they realized the date available was the 13th of October, they knew instantly that a Friday the 13th themed wedding was in order.
I love shooting themed weddings! They can be hard to pull off without being cheesy sometimes but I was super impressed with how these guys put together a wedding that was a perfect blend of elegant and epically Friday the 13th themed!

Coffin ring box… check. Starting off the spooky October themed wedding right!
Broomstick bridesmaids “bouquets” for her best witches by her side. 😉
Of all the venues Kristina and Doug could have set their October themed wedding, none would’ve done it justice like Aldie Mansion. It is so stately and regal but has this gothic vibe that is just perfect, especially with the fall colors!
You knew this was coming as soon as you heard “Friday the 13th themed wedding.” I love that Kristina and Doug found that perfect balance between lightheartedness and elegance for their wedding theme.
I can just imagine the bakery having the most fun splattering the wedding cake with red blood? It’s so ingenious the way Kristina and Doug chose to pull in superstitions for their Halloween appropriate wedding. Walking under a ladder is bad luck? Not for these newlyweds!
Exchanging the wedding vows at dusk that way they can be inside at their wedding reception before the werewolves and vampires try and get them!
Voodoo dolls for the sweetheart table and tarot cards and a Ouija board as centerpieces for their guests. I wonder if anyone was able to communicate with the great beyond!
Kristina and Doug were dancing on a cloud when the fog rolled in for the bride and groom’s first dance.
The only appropriate song for the father-daughter dance during a Friday the 13th themed wedding: The Monster Mash!
Jason Vorhees would definitely approve of cutting the wedding cake with a machete for a Friday the 13th themed wedding.
Forks are for amateurs!
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Gotfredsen hope the honeymoon to Camp Crystal Lake is fun! Remember, if you run into a batty old lady talking about her son that drowned, you run the other direction!
