Lovers of the outdoors, Kate & Josh decided to have an outdoor fall wedding ceremony at Basking Ridge Country Club with the rolling hills the golf course behind them. This wasn’t our first time there though. We decided to also have their engagement session on the grounds of the property as well so we were well acquainted with the landscape.
The Proposal
Kate and Josh had a proposal that was very in tune with them as a couple – personal and without an audience. They had made their way up to Lake George (their favorite getaway spot) for a couple days around New Year’s Eve. They were huddled up on the couch together next to the fire when he proposed. Unbeknownst to Kate, Josh had asked for her parents’ blessing weeks earlier, so everyone else was standing by their phones on pins and needles waiting for the big news.

The pearl necklace Kate was wearing was given to her by her parents for her high school graduation. It was a special thing that during these major moments in her life, she’s wearing an equally special necklace.
Kate got ready at her childhood home in what I’m calling the “Wedding Room.” It was all decked out with Kate’s jewelry, shoes, dress, invitation and white flowers. Her mom was so excited for the wedding and even put up these K and J stickers all throughout the house. To say she was thrilled about the wedding would be an understatement!
Kate’s niece Liv was enamored with the ring, and who could blame her?
Always be yourself…unless you can be Batman – then be Batman.
Teamwork makes the dream work. Very efficient way of getting 3 bowties tied at once.
Josh and his groomsmen all had unique cufflinks that each reflect a little throwback to yesteryear and what brought them together in the first place.
Normally, the air in the space during bride prep is very anxious and nervous, but the girls the girls were all enjoying the moment and having a great time.
Kate’s mom even did extra prep outside for the wedding! She planted white mums and had these beautiful blue flowers growing, Kate’s “something blue” for the day.
Kate and Josh are just goofy, funny people and this perfectly captures that. This is Josh, every day of the week, don’t think he’s going to be any different on his wedding day.
Negotiations about getting down the aisle got rough. Kate’s nephew Owen was bartering for extra toys in exchange for walking down the aisle as planned.
A really grand dress deserves a grand entrance – and Kate got that and more. Shout out to the amazing team at I Do I Do in Morristown for a Kate’s beautiful dress.
As you can see, the negotiations from earlier in the day were a success. The rings did in fact make it to the altar.
The first challenge of a marriage is trying to light two candles on a very windy day in an open space. After lighting the unity candle, Josh goes, “You can’t really see it – but it really is lit, trust me.” You can always count on Josh for a little comedic relief.
The perfect backdrop for a fall wedding at Basking Ridge Country Club.
Self professed nerds at heart, Princess Peach & Bowser.
The thing Josh was most looking forward to was the slider bar, second only to marrying his best friend, and it did not disappoint.
While Kate might joke that she’s a little high strung, she says Josh is the calming force everyone needs in their lives. The two work so well together because they’re the perfect combination of crazy and calm.
An impromptu twirl competition between Kate and her niece. We’ll go ahead and call it a tie.
“Trust me, you can dance.” – alcohol at the open bar.
Bringing back a tradition from the old days…play Thunderstruck by AC/DC and when the word “thunder” is heard, the first person starts drinking until “thunder” is said again, then the next person goes.
A completely candid moment from the couple. They were off to the side laughing together and observing the wedding and they were just really there.
