Summer Extended Family Photos at Home- Califon, NJ

There is something incredibly special about having the entire family together, especially when loved ones are spread across different parts of the country. This extended family session in Tewksbury/ Califon, NJ, was inspired by Grandma’s wish to capture updated photos while both of her adult children and all of her grandchildren were home for a visit. With one family traveling from California and the other balancing life between New Jersey and Florida, opportunities like this don’t come around often.

The session took place on the family’s beautiful property, which made the perfect backdrop for the occasion. Photographing everyone at home allowed the day to feel relaxed and comfortable, with no need to travel anywhere. The property offered plenty of space for the kids to run around, and best of all, the family dogs were able to join in on the fun. The children loved having the dogs included in the photos, and as always, the pets brought an extra level of joy and energy to the session.

One of the highlights of an extended family session is capturing all the different relationships that make a family unique. We photographed the entire family together, grandparents with their grandchildren, individual families, couples, aunts with nieces, and plenty of candid moments in between. These combinations help tell the complete story of a family and create images that will be treasured by multiple generations.

Sometimes a family visit is the perfect excuse to schedule photos, and this gathering was a reminder of how important it is to document these moments while you can. Grandma was thrilled to have everyone home at the same time, and now the family has a collection of images that captures not only what they looked like during this season of life, but also the happiness of being together.
