James and Erin’s love story reached a milestone this December with a picturesque proposal at Merrill Creek Reservoir in Harmony, New Jersey. The scenic beauty of the reservoir, with its peaceful trails and serene waters, set the stage for a moment Erin will never forget. James, determined to surprise his love—who is famously hard to surprise—crafted a plan with the help of her mom and me, to ensure everything was perfect.

Their journey together began in February of 2018, during their sophomore year of college, when fate brought them together at a mixer between James’s fraternity and Erin’s soon-to-be sorority. From their first date in the snow to their shared love of travel, badminton, and cozy evenings with their cat, Kaia, their connection deepened with every moment spent together. It wasn’t long before James realized Erin was “the one,” and their bond has grown ever stronger since.

On the day of the proposal, James told Erin they were headed to a farm to make Christmas ornaments. As they walked down a trail at the reservoir, she realized something much more special was happening. Overcome with emotion, Erin began to cry as James got down on one knee to ask her to be his forever. You can see the joy and surprise in her expression in these photos, James did a wonderful job to make the moment special for her. To make the day even more special, Erin’s mom had planned a celebration afterward, bringing their loved ones together to honor the start of this new chapter.
