Engagement Session Frequently Asked Questions

You’re engaged – yay and congratulations! With many things on your “just engaged” to do list, I’m here to make this one a bit easier for you. Here are some of my most frequently asked questions the engagement session, but if I missed any, ask away!

Do you have any locations you recommend?

YES! Check out my list of favorite locations here! Some couples know exactly where they’d like to have the session, others not so much. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box – is there a location that’s significant or special to you? Where you first met? Where you got engaged? Perhaps you’re simply looking for a beautiful location that will make for a scenic background.

What should we wear?

One of the most popular questions I get from couples before an engagement session is “what should I wear?!” I always want you to feel comfortable and for you to be yourself. But, there are some guidelines I’ve picked up over the years that can make for a foolproof wardrobe that’s super photogenic – those are all outlined in my blog post, here.

 

Can I bring my dog?

If you’ve got a furbaby, they are more than welcome to tag along – just make sure you bring along an extra handler for the solo shots. What can we do with the images?

Oh, I thought you would never ask! This is my favorite thing to talk about! There are so many cool ways to share and display photos from your session. Get creative! Create a wall collage, display them in a custom guest book, get a collection of mounted prints to share with the family…the opportunities are endless. Visit my products page to see some the options.

When should we schedule the session for?

I like to get engagement sessions on the calendar 2-3 weeks prior to when you want to shoot. If it’s during a peak season in the fall, 4-5 weeks before your desired date is recommended. I typically shoot engagement sessions on weekdays, and we’ll start 90 minutes before sunset.

 

What happens if it rains?

How long until I can see the photos after the session?

After the session, I go through and select all of the top images and apply basic editing to make you look your absolute best! You will be able to see your final images 2-3 weeks after the session.

 

Do you charge a travel fee?

There is no travel fee for the first 20 miles surrounding Pittstown, NJ. Locations beyond this would incur a travel fee.

How many photos will I receive?

On average most sessions will yield roughly 60 final images.

 

A few items to keep in mind:

• Please be on time for your session! We largely base them on sunset times. If you’re late, the sun won’t wait!
• If there are any photo permits to be obtained or location fees, it’s the client’s responsibility to obtain the permit and pay for any fees associated.
• Photoshop: We can’t Photoshop everything out. Photoshop exists as a tool to be used in a handful of cases. If you have concerns about a blemish or something similar, let’s talk ahead of time. In depth editing will be an additional cost after the session if requested by the client.
